MY STORY

My name is Stella Feyi, and I am the owner of Blossoms Creations and Crafts. My family relocated to Canada, British Columbia in 2012 and since arriving here, I have been a stay home Mom caring for my four young kids, including Twins. In 2014, my husband’s colleague and his wife also relocated here and one day we were having our morning walk when she mentioned that she had seen a fabric shop around where we were headed, so we walked towards that direction and entered the fabric shop where we met the owner and told her that we wanted to learn how to quilt. She then told us that there was a class going on in one of the rooms and directed us there.

We entered and saw two ladies, one was teaching sewing, and the other was quilting. We said hello and told them our interests. The Lady doing the quilting pointed to the other Lady and said she teaches sewing, but we said we wanted to learn how to quilt. The sewing teacher was not very pleased, but we were not bothered. The other lady said she was happy to teach us how to quilt.

God being so Good, one day I visited one of the charity shops in town where I live and saw a sewing machine going for $10. (picture in blog) I bought it and took it for servicing which cost me $78, more expensive than the machine. But it was a good machine, so it didn’t bother me much. After it was serviced, we started the quilting lessons. I have always been a lover of combinations, so I really love quilting because of how colors are combined. We continued with the lessons and trying our hands on simple quilt patterns and trying hard for our points to meet perfectly.

The first quilt I ever made was from five-inch squares. But after I have made quilts for my family and some friends, I quickly realized that quilting was an expensive hobby. I began to wonder, and I said to myself that there should be something in craft that I can do and complete it on my own without incurring extra expenses like quilting.

So, one evening, I went on YouTube and saw a video on bagmaking. That same evening, I followed the video and made my first patch work bag using my fabric scraps which I completed! And that was how I found my passion for bag making! The fact that I can have a finished product at the end of my labour and not incur extra costs gladdened my heart. YouTube became my teacher when it comes to bag making. I learnt a lot of bagmaking techniques watching videos on YouTube. During the covid lock down I took the opportunity and worked tirelessly to perfect my skills. When people started seeing the photos, they started developing interests and that was the birth of this business.

Our aim is to provide quality handmade products for our customers and help fellow Crafters find the raw materials for their individual crafts.
